Tenshin Shoden Katori Shinto Ryu
Tenshin Shoden Katori Shinto Ryu is one of the oldest schools of Martial Arts dating back to 1447.The focus is on weapons. Training in Katori Shinto Ryu is based on kata, pre arranged movements designed to teach the practitioner real combat techniques.
Kenjutsu (paired sword practice)
Iaijutsu (solo sword drawing, seated and standing)
Bojutsu (staff practice)
Naginata (halberd practice)Two Weekly Sessions in Kilkenny Area. Intensive 3 hour session monthly.
No previous martial arts experience is required, just a willingness and curiousity to learn this traditional Japanese martial art. Training for Beginners will include Kenjutsu and Iaijutsu.

If you would like to train with us, please first come and watch a class. You then would need to arrange a private one on one session. After two private sessions you may join in the regular classes. All you need at first is comfortable loose clothing. After a while it is neccesary to own a keikogi and a bokken.
Cost of training is 25 euro a month or 7 euro a session. Concessions are available to those that need them.
Class led by Joseph Kennedy, Irish Representive of Koryu Budo Seifukai and student of Sensei Luigi Carniel, a 5th Dan in KSR under Yoshio Sugino.
